CROSSFIT: CrossFit Vivid took first and seventh place at the Allstar Affiliate Series Final last weekend.

The Allstar Affiliate Series Final was held on December 2 and 3 at Sydney Olympic Park.

There were 100 teams competing over the weekend, each team consisted of three male and three female athletes.

CrossFit Vivid had two teams competing, a teens team and a masters team (over-40).

The teens team took first place - they were the only teen team competing on the weekend, as it was the first year this category was included.

The masters team placed seventh overall.

CrossFit Vivid's Gayle Kruger said CrossFit was all about community and this event was yet another example of the spirit that was created with like-minded people getting together, encouraging one another to do their best.

"It is amazing to see CrossFit's ability to physically prepare you, and to experience the universal camaraderie found within this sport is one of its drawcards,” she said.

"We have noticed some real growth, in particular, in our teens as they prepared themselves for the competition, and I think each of them experienced a personal best over the weekend and all have come away with motivation and aspirations for goals to target within CrossFit.

"The masters also gained valuable experience and each have some personal goals to work towards. Competing in comps of this calibre highlights your weaknesses and gives a focus for future training.

"We were overwhelmed with the support received not just from the Vivid community but also the wider local community were very generous.”

Now in its sixth year, the Allstar Affiliate Team Series is the largest Australian-based Affiliate Team Series Competition.

A qualifier is held in each state and two in Queensland, with thousands of CrossFitters competing in two-day events in RXD, scaled, masters and teen divisions. The national final is then held in Sydney on December 2 and 3.

Ms Kruger said CrossFit Vivid had seven teams compete in the North Queensland qualifier, which was held in Townsville in August.

"I think we had one of the biggest contingencies representing our box,” she said.

"From there the top teams from each state qualifier and from each division were invited to compete in the national finals.”
