Coast teen picked for Ultimate Fighter
SUNSHINE Coast fighter Tyler Manawaroa will renew his partnership with Kyle Noke after being selected to appear on UFC reality television show The Ultimate Fighter.
The 19-year-old welterweight will appear on the show, which is due to hit Australian screens early next year, where contestants compete for a professional UFC contract.
Manawaroa, from Glenview, is considered one of the country's rising stars of the sport, having accumulated a 10-0 record.
He will represent the green and gold in The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs Australia, which is being filmed in North America.
Coast-based UFC fighter Noke, who himself got his start on the reality show, has been named coach of the Aussie team.
Manawaroa fights out of the Integrated MMA gym, Noke's old gym, and has trained with the UFC star in the past.
"He (Noke) is awesome," Manawaroa told Fight Australia earlier this year. "I've trained with him a few times before and it'd be a good opportunity if I could do it again.
"He trains out of a top gym in America, so anything he can teach us will be great. He's so good to talk to when he comes over here and he's always got some pretty funny stories about over there."
Manawaroa was due to compete on a previous series of The Ultimate Fighter but was ruled out when producers discovered he was too young, at just 17.
