Quinn's co-driver rallies for race
A NEAR-disaster has been averted and Coffs Coast Rally Team co-driver David Green will join Nathan Quinn in the People's Republic of China.
Green has just about recovered from the illness that almost ended their dream of appearing in the sixth and final round of the Asia Pacific Rally, starting November 5.
The pair will pilot a Mitsubishi Evo-9, prepared by the Soueast Motor Kumho Team for colourful owner and international rally identity, Fan Fan.
CCRT manager Martin Quinn said his son Nathan had taken possession of the vehicle and the first series of familiarisation and testing had exceeded expectations.
"This is an extraordinary set-up, far better even than what we'd already expected," he said.
"After the first day of testing the car, all is well and with Greeny on his way there's been a deep sigh of relief.
"We are being treated like royalty and even managed to take some happy snaps of the young bloke conferring with the team."
After mucking in with all the crew since starting in the sport, Quinn said it was a culture shock for the drivers to suddenly find they were in total charge of the project and responsible for making some hefty decisions.
"Being a boss is different to being one of the boys and that takes getting used to," he said yesterday.
"It's a confidence thing they'll both have to adjust to very quickly."
