The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road dominate BAFTAs

THE Revenant cleaned up at today's BAFTAs in London, taking out five awards including Best Film, Best Director and Leading Actor.

Star Leonardo DiCaprio now seems very likely to win his first Oscar thanks to his awards haul over the past month.

Australian director George Miller also has plenty to celebrate as his film Mad Max: Fury Road was the other big winner of the night.

The action epic was victorious in four of the technical categories including Best Production Design and Best Costumes.

Cate Blanchett missed out on the Leading Actress category once again for Carol, which failed to pick up any awards despite leading the nominations.

Like DiCaprio, Brie Larson continues to firm up as an Oscars favourite after adding the BAFTA for Leading Actress to her Golden Globe and SAG wins.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega was named Rising Star.
