Injured rider in stable condition at Rockhampton Hospital
1pm: JULIEANN Lancaster, the woman who was injured by a horse this morning at Callaghan Park, is in a stable condition in the Rockhampton Hospital.
It is believed the track rider was kicked in the face and chest by the horse after she was dislodged from the horse while leading it down a tunnel.
An ambulance responded to the call at 5.45am this morning.
10am: TRACK supervisor Gary Fisher said an accident that left a rider with a likely broken jaw was very "distressing" to see play out.
Mr Fisher, who was on the track this morning when a 36-year-old female rider was injured by a horse, said the incident occurred at around 5.45am.
"She was coming back through the tunnel after completing work...the horse got a fright in the tunnel and dislodged her," he said.
"She hung onto the reins, the horse got past her and double barreled her in the face with both hind legs.
"It was in the tunnel so I didn't see it but (her) partner yelled out to me to get an ambulance.
"I went racing down and she was unconscious on the ground. We put her on the recovery position until the ambulance got there."
The Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported the woman to hospital.
She is suspected to have a broken jaw and possible other injuries.
9.20am: THE partner of the rider injured in an incident at Callaghan Park was at the horse racing facility at the time of the accident.
A witness has told The Bulletin no one witnessed the incident but it was believed the track worker was riding a horse when it played-up in or near the tunnel track entrance and it came down.
The track rider was kicked in the face and chest by the horse after she was dislodged from the horse.
It is believed the female track worker (not a jockey as other media have reported) has sustained a broken jaw and other injuries.
The witness said there was discussion the 36-year-old could be transported to Brisbane for treatment.
8.30am: A 36-year old woman was taken to hospital this morning after she was bucked off a horse at Callaghan Park and kicked in the head and chest.
An ambulance responded to the call at 5.45am and treated her for facial injuries before taking her to Rockhampton Hospital.
It is understood she was not on the course at the time.
6.45am: MULTIPLE ambulance crews are attending an incident at Callaghan Park this morning.
Reports indicate a rider has been seriously injured.
