Whale mural part of $300,000 Riviera Resort makeover
A STUNNING 150m mural of sea creatures on the roof of the Riviera Resort on the Esplanade is part of a $300,000 makeover.
Resort manager Brian Beynon, who took over management in 2013, said the resort was the first high rise building in the bay and needed to be renovated.
"When I took over, it was run down, now we have a better pool, and a blossoming garden area plus this beautiful painting of a sea full of dolphins, whales, dugongs and turtles," he said.
"When you are looking down from your rooms, the mural on the roof looks like a big aquarium."
Artist Paul Pettersson took just eight days and used a big brush and acrylic paint to make the painting look alive.
