Not so Swisse: sick Ellen DeGeneres delays Australian tour

US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has been forced to delay her trip to Australia.

The 55-year-old was due to fly from LA tomorrow but has been forced to stay home for a few extra days to recuperate from the flu.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show will delay its arrival into Australia by a few days while Ellen recovers from the flu," a spokesperson from Warner Bros confirmed just a short time ago.

"Ellen will meet her fans in Sydney later next week, and will then head to Melbourne."

The delay follows months of hype including fan events and DeGeneres even flying a few lucky Aussies over to LA to appear on her show.

DeGeneres has been tweeting about her ill health to her more than 17.5 million Twitter followers but has yet to tweet about her delayed trip Down Under.

"Trying to get over a bug before I go to Australia. Nobody wants to be down under the weather," she wrote.

"Between my humidifier and Portia making me tea non-stop, there's so much steam coming from our house people think we picked the new Pope," she posted in an upbeat Tweet a day earlier.

Ironically, the tour is being sponsored by Australian vitamin firm Swisse.

When the tour was announced (see video below), Nicole Kidman was singing Swisse's praises, saying: "I really believe in staying healthy. It is taking care of yourself.''

DeGeneres agreed, adding she was so chuffed that an Australian vitamin company was partnering with her to bring her Down Under for the first time.

Comedian Josh Thomas (@JoshThomas87) didn't miss the moment, tweeting: "Ellen Degeneres might not come to Australia on behalf of 'Swisse Wellness' because she isn't well. Incredible. It's just too much perfect.''

The post had been quickly retweeted more than 100 times.
